If you’re looking for a simple approach to slightly enhance your monthly income, participating in paid surveys can be a legitimate side income.
Making money by answering online surveys isn’t a new idea. Every year, many new platforms emerge that offer monetary rewards for users who share their opinions. While some of these sites are better and less spammy than others, I decided to investigate how Crowdtap measures up against the competition.
For those eager to explore a new opportunity for extra earnings, Crowdtap could be the answer without requiring a significant time investment.
What Is Crowdtap?
Established in 2009, Crowdtap is an online community that rewards users for expressing their views and opinions. They partner with well-known brands such as Verizon, Kraft, eBay, and Sony, as well as new companies looking to test their ideas in the market. For instance, one of the surveys I recently completed involved potential taglines for a new tequila brand.
Crowdtap allows users to earn points through various activities, including answering survey questions, participating in discussions, and sample testing. For newcomers, the primary focus is on surveys. The points earned from these tasks can later be redeemed for gift cards to various stores.
Additionally, Crowdtap has a referral program that awards bonus points for getting friends to sign up.
Is Crowdtap Legit?
Crowdtap is a legitimate platform. Reviews on Trustpilot give it an “Average” rating of 3.6 out of 5 stars.
It’s crucial to understand the common complaints associated with survey companies. The main issues people face include an overwhelming number of emails, being disqualified from surveys, and encountering difficulties with payouts. However, many of the recent complaints about Crowdtap appear to stem from technical issues, which I also experienced. I had trouble registering on the site and was logged out several times while taking surveys (you can see my video review at the top of this article).
In my experience, these problems seemed more like genuine glitches rather than anything malicious or scam-like.
There are also some discussions on Reddit where users complain that Crowdtap frequently suspends accounts, and reinstating them requires multiple contacts with customer service. Although I haven’t faced this issue myself, it’s something to keep in mind.
As far as rewards rates go, I found Crowdtap to be in line with what other survey sites are paying. Earning 1,000 points earns you a $5 gift card, and it took me about an hour and a half to reach that threshold.
